JOB SUMMARY

Provides a safe and secure environment for all employees, students, patients and visitors on all UW Health Health System properties. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System Incentives.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


Provides security support and maintains a safe and secure environment for all employees, students, patients and visitors at all UW Health owned properties. Conducts fire/safety and security hazards surveillance and controls combative at any UW Health owned property.

 

Provides protective parking lot security to staff and vehicles on a twenty-four hour per day basis.

 

Reports safety infractions to the Supervisor following established department procedures.

 

Provides escort services to employees, students and visitors on a twenty-four hour per day basis on all Health System properties.

 

Secures all Health System owned buildings occupied by UW Health staff.

 

Investigates all thefts, injuries and other incidents, preparing written reports, follow-ups and shift reports to Supervisor or Manager. Assists in deterring thefts on properties following established procedures.

 

Participates in a variety of orientation and education programs for employees relating to Safety and Security training.

 

Maintains master key system and lost and found items for all Health System owned properties following established policies and procedures. As necessary conducts purse and package inspections.

Must have valid driver's license and must have a driving record that allows for the Health System insurance carrier to cover the incumbent.

Within orientation period must receive mandatory certification through IAHSS (International Association of Health System Safety and Security.).

Certification in CPR CPI (Crisis Preventive intervention.) and AVADE training courses within 90 days of hire.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Security, Law enforcement or Military background is preferred.

 

Excellent communication skills and the ability to write clear, concise and accurate security reports.

 

Ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and the public within the organization and community.

 

Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
