JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Manager/Supervisor, RN or ancillary health care professional provides client care according to written directions and in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.  Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of Agency philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Under the direction of a RN, provides patient care, utilizing proper technique, assisting patients with personal hygiene and activities of daily living in accordance with Agency policies. Incorporates age-specific, cultural and spiritual needs of the patient and significant other (s.) Applies binders, elastic bandages and stockings and performs non-sterile dressing changes.

 

Provides the RN with accurate and timely information regarding patient needs and status, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

 

Clearly and accurately documents and records observed patient information and care provided.

 

Implements and assists with physical therapy functions including, lifting, transferring, turning and positioning of patients utilizing proper body mechanics.

 

Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.

 

Assists in administering medications that are ordinarily self-administered.

 


As needed, additional responsibilities reasonably within the scope of duties and physical requirements may be assigned.  ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND RESPECT FOR PEOPLE COMMITTMENTS.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to speak, read and understand written orders and to write simple reports.

 

Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with patients, families and staff within the organization and community under varied conditions.

 

Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.
