JOB SUMMARY

Retrieves orders, coordinates surgeries with patients, providers, facilities and representatives.  Schedules appointments, maintains/updates patient demographics and financial information as required.  Coordinates with other providers as needed (surgical assists, vendors, Pediatricians and Hospitalists).  Preauthorizes procedures, coordinates PCP clearances, and completes various forms of paperwork (pre authorizations, consent forms, family leave act paperwork).


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Retrieves orders for all surgeries utilizing necessary equipment and systems in accordance with policy and procedures and scheduling guidelines. Requests reservations for PAT pre op program.

 

Coordinates surgery schedules, accommodating physician’s time needs ensuring a smooth and efficient flow and progression of scheduled cases. Continually audits schedule for workability and correct time calculations Maintains block allocations and scheduling of open times.

 

Efficiently coordinates scheduling of procedures with other departments, providers, facilities, insurance companies as needed. (Hospitalists, Pediatricians, RASC, Hospital Surgical Department, Radiology, etc).

 

Confirms and updates patient demographic, insurance and financial information and enters it in EPIC as needed.

 

Schedules surgery appointments into the EPIC system. Prints copies of schedules as requested.

 

Completes necessary paperwork. (pre authorizations, consents, checklists, family leave act, etc,).

 

Communicates with patient (fax, email, and or phone) regarding final details of surgical information.

 

Assists Patient Accounts with any required information needed for billing.

 

Assists Medical Receptionists as needed.

Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all levels of staff within the organization, providers and community under varied conditions.

 

Ability to operate a variety of general office equipment and use of a computer.

 

Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skills verification tools required.

 

Must demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as verbal and nonverbal communication using the AIDET method.

 

Computer skills.

 

Knowledge of OBGYN Services preferred.
