JOB SUMMARY

Provides Respiratory Care treatments and services to patients.  As needed, supervises the work of other Therapists, technicians or students. Required to work occasional shifts at SAMC-Belvidere as needed.  Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Greets patients and explains procedures and provides clinical input regarding pulmonary care into the patient’s overall plan of care working collaboratively with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

 

Conducts therapeutic procedures to achieve maintenance of an airway, removal of pulmonary secretions, ventilation, aerosolized pharmacological agents, oxygenation and lung expansion therapies.

 

Collects, reviews and evaluates clinical information and documents accurately in the patient’s record maintaining confidentiality of position acquired information.

 

Provides clinical instruction to students or other health care professionals as required.

 

Selects, assembles, checks and repairs equipment for proper function, operation and cleanliness.

 

Sterilizes and disinfects equipment following established infection control procedures and practices.

 

Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.

 


As needed, additional responsibilities reasonably within the scope of duties and physical requirements may be assigned.  ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND RESPECT FOR PEOPLE COMMITTMENTS.
