JOB SUMMARY

Performs computed tomography and related techniques, produces sectional anatomic images creates and stores clinical diagnostic Radiology images as directed and for interpretation by a licensed practitioner utilizing x-ray energy and computer processing techniques. Provides appropriate patient care and exercises professional judgement ensuring successful completion of procedure.  Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as, Health System initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Greets patients, corroborates clinical history, provides education and explains procedures answering any questions or minimizing anxieties to obtain desired results and gain cooperation.

 

Provides physical and psychological support and positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort, and applying principles of radiation protection.

 

Selects appropriate protocol to perform procedures successfully. An assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic exams and administers contrast media or medications prescribed by licensed practitioner following state statue(s) and institutional policy.

 

Evaluates images for technical quality assuring proper identification. Manipulates studies for accurate archiving.

 

Monitors the supplies. Maintains a neat and clean environment and performs equipment quality control checks, and reports malfunction appropriately.

 

Provides clinical instruction and evaluation for students or other health care professionals as required.

 

Uses Meditech computer system to maintain financial and demographic patient information and archival storage of digital data, respecting confidentiality of position acquired information.

 

Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.

 


As needed, additional responsibilities reasonably within the scope of duties and physical requirements may be assigned.  ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND RESPECT FOR PEOPLE COMMITTMENTS.

Ability to establish effective working relationships and clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.
