JOB SUMMARY

Provides radiologic imaging, computed tomography imaging and patient care services at defined levels to patients.  Positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately. Utilizes ALARA principles during examinations. Implements radiation protection and safety standards. Prepares for and assists the physician in procedures, including interventional procedures. Performs reconstruction of CT images. Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

•

Uses AIDET for every patient; every time. (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, and Thank You).

•

Positions patient and equipment to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest while respecting patient ability and comfort. Applies principles of radiation protection.

•

Selects appropriate protocol to perform procedures successfully. Assists Radiologist with fluoroscopic exams and administers contrast media or medications prescribed by licensed practitioner following state statue(s) and institutional policy.

•

Evaluates images for technical quality and assures proper identification. Manipulates studies for accurate archiving.

•

Monitors the supplies. Maintains a neat and clean environment and performs equipment quality control checks. Reports any equipment malfunctions in an accurate and timely way

•

Provides clinical instruction and evaluation for students or other health care professionals as required.

•

Uses the computer system in compliance with HIPAA regulations.

•

Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety and in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts.

As needed, additional responsibilities reasonably within the scope of duties and physical requirements may be assigned.  ALL DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS MUST BE PERFORMED CONSISTENT WITH THE UW HEALTH PERFORMANCE STANDARDS AND RESPECT FOR PEOPLE COMMITTMENTS.

Clinical

Provides age and culturally appropriate assessment/screening, interpretation of clinical and laboratory data and develops and implements age appropriate interventional and plans of care including education within the parameters of his/her position responsibilities and licensure.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Completed an accredited radiologic technology program, a recognized military radiologic technologist training program, or possess two years of related clinical experience in a military setting.

Required

Must provide copy of HS diploma or equivalent, or highest level of completed degree obtained.

Required

Experience as a hospital radiographer and CT technologist.

Preferred

Previous healthcare experience.

Required

Two years of clinical experience.

Preferred

Certification by ARRT in Radiology or current NMTCB certification. 

Required

CT certification within 24 months of hire.

Preferred

CPR certification required within three (3) months of hire.

Required

Current license from IEMA (Illinois Emergency Management Agency).

Required

ARRT certification in CT.

Preferred

LICENSE, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS MUST BE MAINTAINED PER UW HEALTH POLICY.

Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required.

•

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology.

•

Ability to establish effective working relationships and clearly and calmly communicate in English both verbally and in writing with patients, medical staff and the public.

•

Willingness to accept responsibility.
