Provides support for the Cancer Program. | | | | | | | | |
• | Abstracts and codes diagnostic and therapeutic data from medical records of reportable cancer cases within acceptable time frame. | • | Maintains knowledge of reporting requirements and standards from pertinent regulatory bodies and advisory agencies. Ensures Registry’s compliance with all applicable regulatory bodies and Hospital cancer Program goals and objectives. | • | Oversees and maintains Cancer Registry Database, ensuring quality control, completeness and accuracy. Enters and retrieves data from Cancer Registry and submits data to the Illinois Department of Public Health and American College of Surgeons in accordance with established regulations. Develops methods or techniques to verify all eligible cases are entered into system and assists with follow up activities to maintain compliance. | • | Schedules and coordinates the Cancer Committee’s bimonthly meetings. In collaboration with the Committee chair and Director, prepares agendas and updates committee of registry status and requirements changes. | • | Participates in a variety of approved studies and coordinates the publication of the Center’s annual report and community events. Assists with solutions to technical questions and performs a variety of duties. |
