Coordinates family involvement in the education process and serves as a resource person regarding breastfeeding for staff, physicians, students, patients and families. Represents the hospital within the community at a variety of meetings and activities. | | | | | | | | |
• | In collaboration with all health care team members, develops, plans, implements and evaluates individualized education and support for breastfeeding mothers and their families, staff and the community, incorporating current research findings into clinical practice. Documents consultations and education on patient progress notes per established policies. Provides necessary follow-up with patients. | • | Functions as a clinical expert, resource and consultant for staff. Develops, evaluates and conducts breastfeeding education programs and annual competencies. | • | Assists in the development, planning and implementation of a variety of community classes and programs, providing clinical expertise for breastfeeding services. | • | Develops, updates and maintains an adequate supply of appropriate patient teaching materials. | • | Coordinates the use of the Warmline and updates information as required. | • | Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient and environmental safety in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and compliance efforts. |
