Responsible for ensuring quality control of all cytology specimens and department procedures. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. | | | | | | | | |
• | Prepares and examines patient specimens for cytology screening. Reports abnormal slides to Pathologist for diagnosis confirmation in accordance with Bethesda guidelines. | • | Prepares, stains and examines specimens under microscope following established laboratory policies. | • | Performs proficiency testing, quality control checks of instruments, solutions and test results following established standards. | • | Assists with evaluation of technical and operating activities of the department ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies. | • | Assists in orientation and training of new employees as needed. | • | Reports, files and accurately enters test results appropriately. Sends physician reminder letters following established procedures. | • | Assists Manager in development of budgets, preparing capital acquisitions and preparing statistical information. | • | Maintains the functions of a General Supervisor as defined under CLIA guidelines and as delegated by the Laboratory Medical Director. |
