Develops and manages department within a budget. Oversees Unit operational, administrative and staff activity ensuring quality patient care and cost effectiveness. Assists Director in the implementation of department and institutional strategic goals. As needed, provides clinical care. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. Plans and participates in community outreach activities. | | | | | | | | |
• | In collaboration with other cardiovascular departments and medical Directors oversees the delivery of patient care for Cath Lab/Special Procedures, OAC Recovery and Medical Imaging Nurses departments that support the strategic vision of the organization. Facilitates efficient patient flow through the System ensuring compliance with governmental, accreditation and safety regulations. Provides support and supervision to staff within the department. | • | Monitors staff resource utilization, including preparing and reviewing daily schedules, addressing short term fluctuations and assigning daily work and/or patient assignments. | • | Oversees recruitment, staff development, training and education assuring compliance with department and System Human Resources policies and procedures. | • | Functions as a coach and role model for staff and monitors performance, recommending corrective action and participating in discipline as needed. Completes performance evaluations for professional and ancillary staff. | • | Maintains technical knowledge and expertise in specialty area functioning as a resource for other healthcare professionals within the System. | • | Monitors and maintains supply resource utilization and expense, within established budget parameters. Analyzes and reports monthly variances. Develops collaborative relationships with sales representatives and approves new equipment or supplies. | • | Maintains all required departmental records and documentation ensuring compliance with governmental, accreditation and safety regulations. |
