Activities may include working with shared governance councils; developing workflows and processes to meet program needs; participating in various process improvement initiatives; maintaining standards related to evidence based practices and best practices; and providing feedback and guidance for nursing and system leaders. The Nursing Program Specialist will plan, implement, and evaluate program specific initiatives and projects to advance patient and family care and nursing practice at UW Health.. Under the direction of their next level leader, the Nursing Program Specialist will also be assigned work based on the needs of nursing at UW Health. | | | | | | | | |
• | Maintain standards for nursing excellence through ongoing maintenance of key nursing programs, designations, accreditations, and/or regulatory compliance. Coordinate nursing program initiatives, including, but not limited to, assessment of enterprise readiness; formulation and implementation of improvement strategies to meet program criteria; provide program updates and information throughout the enterprise on an ongoing basis. | • | Coordinate improvement work by developing, reviewing, revising, and implementing workflows, policies, procedures, and guidelines in collaboration with existing committees and leaders which direct and guide work performed. | • | Review relevant research, other literature, and best practices related to programs and develop work plans for program design, implementation, evaluation and maintenance. | • | Serve on other relevant workgroups and committees and devise communication strategies to keep organization informed about program areas. | • | Collaborate on and support other selected professional practice advancement initiatives, such as the nursing professional practice model, peer review, and nursing care delivery model. | • | Demonstrate expertise in the nursing process through participation in clinical programs and projects. | • | Evaluate program outcomes and role model professional nursing practice behaviors. | • | Plan and implement educational programming and communications related to the programs and projects. | • | May mentor nurses in their professional development through experiences available at the healthcare facility, the organization’s academic practice partners, and/or community. |
