JOB INFORMATION | Effective Date: | 6/1/2024 | Entity: | Wisconsin | Job Code: | 612003 | Job Title: | Supervisor, Cardiovascular Sonography | Exemption Status: | Exempt | Management Level: | Supervisor/Program Manager | JOB SUMMARY | | | Under the direction of the Manager, Cardiovascular Imaging lab, the Cardiovascular Sonography Supervisor is responsible for supervising cardiac, vascular, and cardiovascular sonographers and students, assisting with competency and educational activities for cardiovascular imaging personnel, is involved with quality assessment of invasive and non-invasive imaging and assists with strategic planning. The Supervisor is involved with hiring, training, performance management, and staff development. The Supervisor functions as a liaison between faculty, educational programs supported by the imaging lab, clinical and support staff, explaining departmental policies and procedures, resolving problems, and coordinating activities. Collaboration with other departments and leadership to ensure standards for productivity, patient care, employee performance, cost effectiveness, and customer satisfaction are met all while continuing to perform more complex ultrasound imaging procedures. This position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of daily operations with the main emphasis on high quality patient care which adhere to the guidelines and technical standards set forth by the IAC – Echocardiography and Vascular Sonography. This position emphasizes proficiency and expertise in the technical aspects of Invasive and Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Imaging and has a focus on quality and resource management. The Supervisor is a multi-skilled allied health professional who may perform Cardiac and Vascular imaging procedures and oversees training of staff. The supervisor ensures proper equipment use and inventory management to ensure patient safety and financial responsibility requirements remain top priorities. Inventory oversight and collaboration with the HTM department and IS team to ensure PAC's functionality which is essential for imaging and reporting. | | | | | | | | |
• | Supervise the daily operations of staff and others as requested: direct and support training and coordinate staff, review employee performance, and apply UW Health work standards to daily operations. | • | Oversee equipment/inventory management to ensure patient safety and fiscal responsibility. | • | Collaborate between the IS team that supports cardiology and vascular surgery imaging and providers to assist with accurate assessment of new products and continuous process improvement of reporting tools. | • | Be a liaison with vendor representatives for procedural support and staff training. | • | Serve as an escalation point for patient issues and questions. Assist the staff with complex patient situations requiring intervention from a higher authority. | • | Recommend and implement guidelines/workflows/technology for the department, focusing on continuous process improvement, efficiency, quality, and waste elimination. | • | Oversee the education of staff, including new employee orientation, competency assessments, and ongoing education programs across all areas of responsibility. Identify focus areas for competency assessments. | • | Monitor policy and procedure updates to identify updates that are applicable to team members. Apprise staff of applicable changes. | • | Ensure all regulatory requirements are met with workflows, equipment, and environment. | • | Assist staff in implementation of organizational, quality improvement, and regulatory changes; monitor and analyze the impact of change. | • | Participate in the hiring and selection of new staff. | • | Supports clinical research activities and programmatic growth as assigned. | • | Assists with scheduling along with the departmental COA and manager. | • | Be a resource to the institution and the community for Cardiovascular Imaging lab topics. | • | Promote a collaborative, respectful environment. | • | Participate in the development of annual goals and objectives and identifies and resolves complex or recurring operational problems in the Cardiovascular lab and out-patient clinics that the lab supports in consultation with the Imaging lab Manager, lead sonographers and medical directors for the involved programs. |
