This role leads the development of a sustainable, system-wide youth talent pipeline by aligning workforce needs with early career pathways, including the Health Occupations and Professions Exploration (HOPE) program, summer internships, and youth apprenticeships. This position integrates workforce development, talent acquisition strategy, and community engagement to attract, develop, and retain future healthcare talent. The manager ensures consistent, high-quality, and equitable youth programming across UW Health while prioritizing access for underrepresented and historically marginalized youth. The manager builds and sustains strong internal partnerships across UW Health departments to develop workforce pipelines, create new apprenticeship opportunities, and support the progression and retention of youth apprentices. This role works closely with operational leaders to both establish new youth apprenticeship opportunities and sustain and expand existing placements within their areas, ensuring alignment with workforce needs and staffing priorities. The manager has direct responsibility for the management of team members, ensuring effective program delivery, staff engagement, and professional growth. Externally, the manager develops and maintains strategic partnerships with Community-Based Organizations (CBOs), high schools across Dane County and surrounding regions, and state agencies including the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. These partnerships support recruitment, access, and alignment with regional workforce strategies.
