Oversees and manages department staff ensuring the delivery of quality, cost effective patient care with the Health Care System. Establishes unit goals and objectives which support the Hospital's goals, values and mission. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and divisional nursing philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. Observation Unit Only - Ability to execute rapid patient throughput utilizing protocol-based care. Responsible for unit budget, capital budget and operations ensuring quality patient care and cost effectiveness. Assists Department Director in the implementation of unit, department and institutional strategic goals. This job is located in any nursing department. | | | | | | | | |
• | Oversees Unit operations with 24 hour accountability ensuring the provision and delivery of age appropriate patient care and providing support to physicians, hospital staff, patients and their families. | • | Establishes Unit goals and objective that support the Hospital’s mission, vision and values and monitors Unit compliance with professional, regulatory and government standards of care. | • | As a coach and role model, manages the Unit providing counseling and supervision to staff and ensuring compliance with department and hospital rules and regulations and human resources policies. Responsible for employees hiring, orientation, performance evaluation and improvement and discipline processes. | • | Oversees, evaluates and monitors clinical and quality patient outcomes maintaining a balance between quality and cost efficient services. | • | Develops and maintains communications systems and documentation processes to maintain effective Unit Functioning and regular dissemination of policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines. | • | Provides input for and monitors unit fiscal requirements. | • | Facilitates staff professional development, ensures competency validation and fosters teamwork and collaboration among all members of the multidisciplinary team. | • | Emergency Room Only - Provides leadership for the Trauma Program by supporting the Trauma Coordinator in building relationships within the trauma team. Serves as the liaison between the trauma team clinical leadership as well as assess the need for support of the Trauma Coordinator at local, region, and statewide trauma committee meetings. |
