Performs technical duties necessary to maintain the medication distribution system and possess the capability of learning multiple software systems. Exemplary customer service skills including collaborative working relationships with patients, multidisciplinary teams, and the public. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. • | Accurately fills physician orders. Keeps proper records. | • | Accurately delivers medication carts to nursing units and exchanges the medication cassettes. | • | Performs the correct calculation for the compounding and packaging of odd dose and unit dose medications. Correctly bar coding all medications that are repackaged. | • | Prepares all parental, irrigation, cytotoxic and hazardous medications using aseptic technique. | • | Assists with inventory management by initiating the reorder process. Replenishes floor stock and automated dispensing machines. Ensures adequate supply of medication and supplies and maintains accurate pricing. | • | Maintains equipment and keeps all work areas clean and sanitary. | • | Accurately enters and adjusts as necessary all drug charges in computer following established procedures. Reconciles the discontinued medications returned to Pharmacy. | • | Contributes to the department QA/QI projects. |

Illinois Licenses & Certifications | Licenses/Certification Details | Time Frame | Required/ Preferred | | Current licensure from the State of Illinois. Candidates without a license may work in this role for 60 days from date of license application through Illinois Department of Professional and Financial Regulation. Those enrolled in an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy are exempt from certification requirements, but will need to obtain a “Pharmacy Technician- Student Designation” license from IDFPR. | | Required | | Completion of Pharmacy Technician Certification within two (2) years of date license was first issued. | | Required | | | | | | | | |
