Completes birth certificate and fetal death certificate process. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and education experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives. This job is located in the Mother and Baby Department. | | | | | | | | |
• | Interview patients and their families to obtain necessary demographic, insurance and related information for birth certificates utilizing ATT phone line for non-English speaking patient as necessary. Maintains confidentiality of position acquired information. | • | Accurately enters and retrieves birth certificate and other data or statistics into computer and produces a variety of routine reports. | • | Provides clerical assistance and maintains and/or retrieves a variety of complete, accurate and timely information and records for department, utilizing all necessary equipment and systems (i.e. CRT, printer, pneumatic tube) following established department procedures | • | Obtains required signatures on paternity consent and screening forms following established procedures and maintaining compliance with state rules and regulations. | • | Clearly and professionally answers phone providing routine information to physicians, other departments, regulatory agencies or Public Health officials in accordance with department release policies. | • | Obtains properly signed birth and fetal death certificates and paternity papers following department procedures. | • | Establishes and maintains accurately and timely records and confidential filing systems including payroll/time and attendance information for assigned areas. | • | Provides support to Nursing Unit, utilizing all necessary equipment and systems following established department procedures. | • | Orders and maintains supplies to provide an optimally functioning Unit. | • | Establishes and maintains a variety of complete, accurate and timely records for Unit according to established policies. | • | Coordinates Unit activities with other departments to enhance quality patient care and efficient operations. | • | Functions as a resource for all Unit staff on the proper operation of office equipment, providing assistance and training as necessary. | • | Provides input as requested to various committees and project teams. | • | Assists with coordination and provision of patient care delivery. |

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities | • | Must be able to read, write legibly and communicate effectively in English and Spanish preferred. | • | Interacts with staff, physicians, patients and their families and community resources. Knowledge of computer software. | • | Ability to type 30 words per minute. | • | Successful completion of annual job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. | • | Excellent verbal, written, organizational and customer service skills required. | • | Strong phone etiquette skills required. | • | Good interpersonal skills and ability to deal with all levels within the organization and community under varied conditions. | • | Familiarity with medical terminology preferred. | • | Basic knowledge of data entry skills preferred. | • | Successful completion of annual clinical, age and job specific competencies and skill verification tools required. | | | |
