JOB SUMMARY

The NI-Manager, Emergency Management and Trauma Services  provides management support and coordinates emergency management and paramedic program operations with 24 hour accountability ensuring quality and cost effective service. Conducts all levels of EMS education programs in accordance with the EMS System plan. Oversees all paramedic primary education and continuing education. Is responsible for curriculum development of all emergency management, paramedic, and trauma program courses. Performs a variety of record keeping, information dissemination, quality assessment and improvement, curriculum development, field supervision and evaluation, planning and other related activities to maintain the EMS System. Oversees American Heart classes. Provides opportunities for continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.  Provides management and coordination of the trauma program throughout the SwedishAmerican Health System continuously seeking opportunities to improve the services for patients with traumatic injuries.  Monitors clinical outcomes and system issues related to quality of care. Supervises the performance of the trauma RN/trauma registrar.  Oversees the CoAEMSP accreditation by working with the program coordinator to review work plans, course evals and identify areas for improvement.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Supervises EMS Educators , trauma RN’s, and registry nursing staff.

 

Provides management support and coordinates emergency management and paramedic program operations with 24 hour accountability ensuring quality and cost effective service. Conducts all levels of EMS education programs in accordance with the EMS System plan. Oversees all paramedic primary education and continuing education.

 

Oversees the CoAEMSP accreditation by working with the program coordinator to review work plans, course evals and identify areas for improvement. Ensures components of CoAEMSP accreditation are in place and followed. Maintains exam material security. Is responsible for curriculum development of all courses. Develops and monitors systems to assure cost effectiveness.

 

Evaluates students and assigned candidates for licensure and system reciprocity on an on-going basis.

 

Coordinates all levels of continuing education programs for providers. Works with System Educators to assure all classes have appropriate required approval from IDPH, American Heart Association and other regulatory bodies. Researches industry best practices and recommends process improvements to leadership.

 

Working with regional and state representatives and in collaboration with the EMS Medical Director and staff, develops protocols, policies and procedures for the EMS System. Serves as a liaison with other members and officials of the Illinois State Trauma System and Illinois Department of Public Heath.

 

In collaboration with the Trauma Medical Director, assures quality of trauma care and compliance with all Trauma level II Center State and Public Health regulations and reporting requirements.

 

Provides management and coordination of the operations of the trauma service program and coordinates trauma care within the SwedishAmerican Health System. Develops and monitors compliance of appropriate policies, clinical practice guidelines and standards of care. Serves as a liaison to administration and represents the trauma program on various hospital and community committees to enhance and foster optimal trauma care management.

 

Provides trauma education for physicians, nurses and other Trauma Team members as well as patients and general public within the parameters of his/her position, responsibilities and licensure.

 

Ensures trauma registry is accurate and updated timely.

 

Oversees emergency management services and paramedic fiscal responsibilities.

 

Provides opportunities for continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.

Within first year of employment must attain the following certifications; Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Lead Instructor,  Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Instructor, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor status.
