JOB SUMMARY

Supervises and coordinates activities of Environmental Service employees within the Hospital.    Administers and directs a housekeeping program to maintain a clean, orderly and attractive environment within SwedishAmerican.  Directs the activities of the Linen Department in an efficient and cost effective manner.  Directs the implementation of departmental and organizational strategic goals.  Participates in continuous quality improvement activities and educational experiences in support of departmental and organizational philosophy and objectives, as well as Health System initiatives.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES


Oversees the delivery of service, inspecting and evaluating the physical condition of the Hospital, making recommendations for improvements and ensuring compliance with governmental, accreditation and safety regulations. Establishes long range objectives, plans, department policies and procedures that integrate the System’s vision and mission.

 

Monitors staff resource utilization and schedules ensuring adequate service within all areas. Establishes standards and work procedures for staff in accordance with established System policies and procedures.

 

Oversees recruitment, staff development, training and education and assures compliance with department and System human resources policies and procedures.

 

Functions as a coach and role model for staff and monitors performance, recommending corrective action and participating in discipline as needed. Completes performance evaluations for staff.

 

Maintains technical knowledge and expertise in specialty area functioning as a resource for other healthcare professionals within the System.

 

Monitors and investigates new supplies and equipment to reflect new technology. Develops and monitors department budgets and analyzes and reports variances.

 

Compiles a variety of reports and maintains all required departmental records ensuring compliance with governmental, accreditation and safety regulations.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Healthcare Leadership, Business Management or related field. Seven (7) – ten (10) years of progressively more responsible management experience in Hospital Environmental Services may be considered in lieu of degree.
